Brandy is a spirit made from distilled fruit juice or fruit pulp and skin and is often served in cocktails or as an after-dinner drink.

Grape brandies, including French cognac and Greek metaxa, are aged in wooden casks and have an oaky, aromatic flavor.

Pomace brandies, such as Italian grappa and French marc, are aged less and tend to have a strong, potent flavor.

Fruit brandies include all other non-grape brandies and are commonly made from apples, blackberries, apricots, cherries, peaches and plums.
